Project Overview

Mission Statement:
A bike tour to empower young people through first hand experience of Canadian Environmental Initiatives, to become involved in the critical sustainable action of their own local communities.

Focus Areas: Sites visited in the following areas
1. Green Building: Developers, Building Centres,
    Housing communities, Eco-homes
2. Community Connection:
      •  Grassroots initiatives: Schools, campuses,
          community gardens, Farmer's Markets, businesses, local environmental groups, aboriginal reservations
      •  Intentional communities: Eco-villages, co-housing, cooperatives, yoga community and retreat centers.

Outcomes:
- 23 sustainable initiatives visited
-An increase in networking and collaborating between visited sites
-One radio interview and 7 articles written about Ride the Wave to date
- 2,000 kilometers cycled
- 20 voice recorded interviews. In addition, many Video clips and photos were collected by team members for
  RTW presentations

Eily and Mandi reached Victoria, BC on Thursday 14th 2008! Afer 54 Days on the Road and over 2000km!!!!

8/16/2008 (Sat):Mandi left Victoria for her solo journey back to Spokane, Washington. What a great pleasure it has been to have her a part of the RTW team; she has contributed with her heart, yoga inspiration, and with her great love for adventure.

10/29/2008 pm: Updated Project Overview (on this page) with large revision, Updated Sustainable Initiatives Visited Page with additions to navigation and content, Updated Media Page with audio clip (now working), Updated and converted two web articles (which had their webpages removed) to pdf copies and added another (new) one, Updated Photogallery with 50 photos, and updated a few misc items.
